Today we're excited to highlight Tate Urie, a Pay-It-Forward Grant recipient who chose to bring kindness, fun, and connection to his entire school community at Charlotte Middle School.

Inspired by the mission of The Ev Effect, Tate wanted to make sure that every student had the opportunity to experience fun, connection, and inclusion. With that goal in mind, Tate partnered with the school's PBIS (Positive Behavior in Schools) team to organize a school-wide assembly called "Tate's Holiday Games."

The event took place during the holiday season and was filled with laughter and excitement as students participated in games such as Merry Musical Chairs, Holiday Hot Potato, Festive Balloon Race, and the grand finale, the Jolly Air Mattress Relay Race. Students had the chance to win prizes, and the winning teams even earned donuts for their entire class.

But Tate wanted to make sure that everyone could be part of the experience. Using part of his grant, he purchased ornaments that each student could decorate and take home. These ornaments can stand as a simple but meaningful reminder of a day centered around joy, kindness, and belonging.

Tate's project is a wonderful example of what happens when young people are given the opportunity to lead with kindness and creativity. One student's idea turned into a moment that brought an entire school together.

Thank you, Tate, for reminding us that sometimes the best way to spread kindness is simply to create space for others to laugh, participate, and feel included.
